Every replacement stem & crown is an original part, directly from the manufacturer. The watch case is disassembled, and the broken stem & crown is removed. Often times, the tube in which the stem & crown sits and operates, gets bent from impact, and even if slightly, becomes skewed just enough to break the seal. If necessary, we replace the tube as well. Once we receive the new stem & crown, we install it, reassemble the watch, and re-pressurize it.

Gaskets are different for each watch; these specific parts need to be ordered from their original manufacturers. After a new battery and gaskets are installed, we re-pressurize the watch, and test the watch's water resistance to factory standards through a waterproofing machine. Not all waterproofing machines are the same, ours is able to test to a variety of different atmospheres and depths. For High-End watches, we recommend to have your gaskets and water resistance checked at least once a year, as the watch is unsafe for use if it is not water-proof. Even the slightest drop of water can cause severe damage to the cosmetics and micro-mechanics of a watch.

After the main components are out, the spring and all winding wheels are removed in order to remove the main spring. The spring is then removed and the barrel in which the spring sits is disassembled. We are now able to remove the minute wheel as well as the fork and balance wheel. Once the entire movement is apart, we examine each part individually to make sure each wheel is in perfect working order and examine every tooth on the wheel. Even the slightest wear on a single tooth can affect the timing of the watch, or even worse, cause the movement to stop. Any part which shows any sign of wear is replaced. The main spring is replaced regardless, during each service. Parts that are in need of being replaced are purchased direct from the manufacturer; we will only use original parts for repair. The disassembled movement is then cleaned with an ultrasonic cleaning machine in several different cleaning solutions. The watch case and bracelet are polished and brushed to remove the scratches and for it to regain its new look and finish. Many watches have a dual finish comprised of polished and brushed sections. We make sure to follow the factory finish and have the watch looking as new and original as it can be.

Once each part is clean and any necessary new parts are received, we can then begin the reassembly. As each part is put in its place, it is re-oiled with the proper lubricant. Different wheels and parts require different types of lubricants and most parts need to be lubricated from both sides. When the movement is finally reassembled and the dial and hands are reinstalled, the final timing adjustments are made to ensure the accuracy is to within industry standards. Lastly, the movement is placed back into the case; and we install new rubber gaskets in the case back, crown, and tube. This pressurizes and waterproofs the watch to ensure it is water resistant to its original depth. Finally the bracelet is re-attached and the watch is tested on our watch winder for a week. The entire process usually takes 4-6 weeks depending on the difficulty of the movement and availability of parts. We then offer a 1-2 year warranty depending on the watch brand.
